Southwinds Park

(Past Project) October 2012 – September 2022

October 2012, The Islamorada Foundation entered into a 5 year “operating agreement” with the Village of Islamorada to manage daily operations and maintenance of the 1.1 acre green space in Islamorada’s downtown core.

(5 additional years extended in 2017)

Over these ten (10) years, The Islamorada Foundation transformed Southwinds Park, through the generosity of many, with over 50 native canopy and understory trees and 75 native shrubs. We continued by adding a four (4) vehicle parking area, information kiosk, a 12×20 pergola, ground mounted drinking fountain, four (4) park benches, three (3) silhouette bicycles racks and a 20′ commercial US flag pole.

Over the 10 years of our management and operating, we enjoyed hosting numerous free evenings of live music, weekly farmers market, community gatherings and hosting annual holiday lightings.

Ten years (10) of volunteering to transform one of Islamorada’s “diamonds in the rough”, through generous philanthropic measures, was a pleasure. We would like to extend our appreciation to Village of Islamorada for allowing us to lead the way at Southwinds Park from 2012 to 2022.
